Dear Brothers and Sisters,
During the past few days, your union representatives were in talks with the Employer to negotiate two letters
of agreement; the first to modify and extend special working conditions until May 4, 2020 and the second to
implement the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), established by the Government of Canada.
I am pleased to report that we have been able to reach an agreement with Rolls-Royce Canada in both cases.
Here are some highlights from the two letters of agreement:
• A new work shift will be established:
o Saturday and Sunday from 6:00am to 6:00pm
o Monday from 11:30pm to Tuesday 5:30am
o 28.5 hours worked, but paid for 40 hours
• Starting April 26, 2020, all members who are not called back to work will be able to take advantage of
Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy. They will receive $ 847 per week which is equivalent to 75% of the
maximum eligible salary ($ 58,700). Rolls-Royce Canada agrees to add a payment of $ 282 per week,
equivalent to 25% of the maximum eligible salary ($ 58,700), for a total of $ 1,129 per week. This
amount will be paid out to all non-working members who must stay at home.
According to these new agreements, a maximum of 70 members will be called back to work, all occupations
combined. Note that no member currently working on the day or evening shift may be assigned to this weekend
The provisions of these agreements ensure that a maximum of our unemployed members will be called back
to work, considering the social distancing measures established by our governments and by Rolls-Royce PLC,
during this period of health emergency.
For members who will not be called back to work, this means that they will receive a salary significantly higher
than Employment Insurance and the Canada Emergency Response Benefit. In addition, by being on the Canada
Emergency Wage Subsidy, the employment relationship is maintained and the members in question can take
advantage of all the benefits provided for in our Collective Agreement.
The letters of agreement will be posted on our website shortly. You can access them at www.aimta869.ca . I
strongly suggest that you read them.
