Dear Sisters and Brothers,
On October 16th, you were called to the polls to choose your new Negotiation Committee. A high percentage of members came out to vote and we personally want to thank everyone who took the time to contribute to this democratic process. Here is your RRC Negotiation Committee:
- Frédéric Labelle – President LL869
- Hrvoje Golek – Shop Committee Chairman
- Richard Dufour – Member
- Michel Perron – Member
- Bradley Phillips – Member
The negotiations in March 2020 will no doubt be challenging for this committee, and at the same time it will give us an opportunity to end a cycle of steady deterioration of our benefits, which have been eliminated gradually after each round of bargaining. It is for this reason that no matter what choice you made in the voting booth, we ask you as your Union leaders, to rally behind our team and support us on all levels throughout the forthcoming negotiations. Know that we are confident that together we can deliver a fair and just contract. That being said, we want to launch the new bargaining campaign under the slogan:
MORE UNITED THAN EVER!
Recent changes to our internal bylaws will provide us with more flexibility and financial stability, supporting all aspects of the upcoming bargaining process. Rest assured that the rights and interests of all the members will be defended.
The new Negotiation Committee will begin its mandate as of January 2019. The intention will be to liberate this committee on a monthly basis or more, as required, to begin strategic preparations and discussions with the bargaining consulting firm hired for this purpose. Various bargaining courses from the QMC and the IAMAW shall be offered throughout 2019.
In addition, please note that a new communication system will be put in place to keep you informed throughout the process from the very beginning. Communication during the negotiations and the education of our members will be a key issue. In this regard, if you have not already done so, do not forget to disclose your personal email address, phone number and correct address to: email@example.com
Your Negotiation Committee is already in contact with a number of different external specialists, including an excellent network of lawyers, collective bargaining consultants, financial planners and a partnership with the Caisse d’économie Desjardins des Travailleuses et Travailleurs unis, all of whom are at our disposal, without omitting the various internal committees of our Local Lodge.
In short, we are asking you to support, encourage and collaborate with our Negotiation Committee to ensure that we are able to negotiate a fair and just contract, a contract that we rightfully deserve.
MORE UNITED THAN EVER!
Frédéric Labelle, President LL869
Hrvoje Golek, Shop Committee Chairman
